Chevrolet Cruze EV prototype
Hints at a production model?
GM has announced plans to test a fleet of Chevrolet Cruze / Daewoo Lacetti EVs in South Korea.
Designed to benefit the company’s “core vehicle electrification competencies,” the prototypes feature a 31-kWh battery and a 150 kW (201 hp / 204 PS) electric motor. This enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds and hit a top speed of 165 km/h (103 mph).
In preliminary testing, the LG-supplied battery allows the EV to travel up to 160 km (100 miles) on a single charge. Once depleted, the battery can be recharged with a standard 220V household outlet in approximately 8 to 10 hours.
While there aren’t plans for mass production, Daewoo’s President Peter Bahnsuk Kim hinted “…our ability to develop this vehicle in less than a year offers a peek at the very promising plans we have for our customers Read full entry »
